Re: Tosh's C2 car releases
Two years after the last C2 item...
SOUL HARVESTER woo
ported from TDR 2000 to Carmageddon 2 yayy
I actually started this almost exactly two years ago, I have no idea why. I'm not really a fan of this vehicle. The original is quite poorly executed too. Tried to get into it again last year but barely went further. Must say splitting the 512x512 map into 256 ones for C2 was annoying. I picked it up last week and here we are. Turned out quite nice IMO, I tweaked some areas a bit and didn't use the original damaged textures as they were really not good, created a better variation of them instead.
Did a rather nice thing with the front shredders spinning while being deformed by static shear grooves. The idea behind the old little bit of code to get grooves at an angle also works for distorting hierarchies. The following distorts an element and its hierarchy, animation (like spinning etc) included. Great to reach advanced movements:
In this case, the element distorts by 10% of its calculated height (Y axis). The flash and -1 bits generate that static behaviour (the animation starts at its full extent directly and stops there)
There's also an animated exhaust that can detach easily. The parts use their damaged texture in a more coherent way than my previous ports too.
Ah well, it's yours to grab at RR2000 weee right there https://rr2000.cwaboard.co.uk/carmageddon-2#cars

Code: Select all
shredders_test // this statically distorts the hierarchy
not a lollipop
constant
no path
shear
flash
0,-1, 0 // speed (cycles per second?)
0, 0, 0 // origin of shear
0,10, 0 // extents indeed
