Hey there Carmafans, nobby here with an announcement! "Volunteers needed for special mission!" ...As my talking Action Man with "realistic" hair used to say.

A while back Gravedrinker posted a request for mobile users to let us know if they could help us test a Carma mobile title that’s being worked on. Thanks to all of you who responded to that – I know it’s been a while since that first request went out, but in a couple of days we’ll be contacting you all to give you the details of how to go about downloading the build to be tested.

Just to be certain ... if we already signed month ago, we don't need to register again for the beta

We'll be sending out emails to previous people who registered and meet the requirements for the test as we will need to get your Google Play Store email address so we can send out invites but if you want you can resubmit the form.

I'm excited to see it, but I'll have to wait for the iOS beta as I don't have a capable android device!

Hey guys, in time-honoured Carmageddon tradition, I'm sorry to say we won't be releasing the test build today. We discovered one small niggling issue today that we thought it best to fix before we go ahead with the private test sessions. Fortunately it's a simple fix/change. Tomorrow I'll give you an update on the revised schedule (we'll need to test a new build internally before we make it live, we're hoping we can squeeze in fix/build/test during the day tomorrow).

We're nearly there DZimmy... ;)

I know the anticipation is killing you all (and me too), but we want to give this new build some more vigorous testing, so please stand down for the weekend everyone, and I'll be back with an update at the start of next week.

I know the beta is very limited, but will there be plans to open a few more slots in the future?

Once again, thanks for your patience guys. Because releasing a title like this is a new experience for us, we're doing a fair bit of "learning stuff" along the way... and as I mentioned, we hit a snag just before the intended test date last week, and then when QA were testing it out, another snag was reported. That was fixed first thing this morning and testing has continued today. We just need confirmation from colleagues in the US that they can read the data the game throws out correctly, and we'll be good to go. Yes, Game Development Is Non-Stop FUN.

Hey Nobby, are you guys making the next game in Beelzebub? Do you guys have a real-time testing environment in your internal development software? Like how Unity/Unreal allows you to just hit "play" on your game to test and debug your scene straight from the development window?

Hey FatCat,

This project's our first to be written using Unity (well, for most of us - Shane's got previous experience from writing his own personal games in it).

Why you changed engine? Is Beelzebub now abandoned, or do you use Unity only for small games? If there is ever going to be sequel for Max Damage, for what engine it probably is build?

Hey KakkaHousu,

We use the most appropriate tech for the project, and in the case of this one, Unity was the choice. Engine tech moves on all the time, and it's well-documented that having initially decided Beelzebub was the best choice back when we started work on Reincarnation, we subsequently had cause to question that choice when the true magnitude of work required to update Beelzebub became apparent, leading to the project running on and on, leading to other middleware options becoming better and potentially viable alternatives...

So, the decision to continue using Beelzebub becomes more difficult in the post Max Damage world of development, with the options available today. We'll go through the same assessment process, but the outcome might not be the same.

Yes, the test has now gone live, and thanks in advance to the volunteers who are involved. Apologies to those who didn't get to participate in this round of testing - we had restrictions based on device type, and also numerical restrictions on the number who could take part. The guys reading the data asked for a relatively small number of devices to start with, and we had a LOT of applications to be involved! So, sorry for anyone left disappointed. Your time will come!
