Best program for sharing...

Post by Hairba11 »

Just looking for peoples opinions on the best peer to peer sharing.

of course this is only for original non copyrighted stuff, but i know imesh was rooted out, and kazaa had pop-up adds, and kazaa lite all used the same p2p database which was being looked into.

napster is pay,

i think i've heard of maybe lime wire?

I don't have a campus network to run blocker for me anymore, so i haven't been looking around much lately

any suggestions?

One to stay away from is iMesh (don't know if it's still around though). That damn program gave my computer a virus before.

I use Limewire right now. Used to use Kazaa. I tried BitTorrent & didn't care for it... But, as long as you actually pay ttention to what you're going to try to download, you should be just fine on Limewire. I haven't had a problem with it myself. Well, there is the occasional program lock up. But, that doesn't usually happen very often.

Just my opinion...

Shareaza. This handles Gnutella, Gnutella2, eMule and Torrents.

DC++. This one is simply good.

thanks, all,

edonkey is gone said that downloading was stealing and my IP was blah.blah.blah, and it had been logged

trying bit torrent now, not very clear, and the files are kinda annoying, every thing i d/l I have to d/l another app to open. seems sloppy to me

may try limewire

I'll have to slap you all (except AcdTrip). You peeps need 2 tools - µTorrent and StrongDC++, then you're good to go. I havn't used anything else the latest years.

I dont exactly know the difference between them but for me at least Micro works better than Bit.. and as for Strongdc++, you could try google but I have nothing to do here so --> http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/S ... 11765.html

Official site is http://strongdc.berlios.de but the one up above works to just get the program.

1 note, though.. When entering a Hub with sDC++, save it in your favorites, right click on it and check "emulate dc++ 0.698" or something like that.

Othervise you might get kicked real hard and banned right away for all eternity  There's a sensitive function in sDC++ which makes it a BIG NO-NO in the DC++ masses. Multiple Source Downloading. Kind of like bittorrent. You'll be blocking more slots, at diffrent people. But, it will rise your speed by extreme sometimes.

But, as speed rise.. the time hoggin a slot will be less too - argument!

ok, almost everything i pick up requires d/ling another app to open it.

next thing, looking a videos, a few of them are wanting me to upgrade my DRM feature and won't play the video without it.

is it worth updating from WMP 9ish to 10/11 to watch teh videos and put up with the DRM liscensing?
