Ideas for new Carmageddon.

Post by The_Bollocks »

If there is going to be new Carmageddon out, gives us a few idea's that you would like to see in it. Some of mine are as follows:

1. Like in GTA3 and Interstate '82, get out of your car and carjack someone else.

2. Have guns and cannons on your car.

3. Pick your AI in a "Freeride" option.

4. On the last level, have all the AI in one level and have a ultimate destruction derby.

5. Pick between manual and automatic transmission.

6. Get diffrent engines for you car, and upgrade it to have something like turbos, nitro-oxide, etc.

7. Like in Driver 1 and 2, have hubcaps fall of your car, aswell as the wheels.

8. Get tyre blow-outs.

9. Have bigger levels.

10. Have the "mist Me" level from Carmageddon 1, I always loved that level.

Give us some of your ideas.

Weapons = NoNo. The whole point of carmageddon is smashing your opponent to pieces, with the odd powerup or two to help with the big boys, not a shoot em up.

I agree with the no weapons thing - IMO that's where a lot of new 'car smashing' games go wrong, they completely fuck up on that option.

With regards to getting out of your car, it would have to be done especially well - I think it'd be cool if you could fly outta your windscreen on a bad smash

The idea of a huge smash up on the last level, hell - that sounds like shitloads of fun! Sure, you'd be there a long time, but it'd be fun

You could do it in C2, not sure if the engine, or the computers would handle it though

detachable hubcabs could also be done in c2, but they wouldn't roll off as well as in driver.

Flat tires is a cool idea too - I've been playing Toca Racedriver recently on the xbox and managed to detach a couple of wheels - it's fun, but it slows you right down... maybe if it were to provide lots of sparks with quite a high speed to boot?

I would like to see a level with a huge drop on it, or a huge wall - not only do I love seeing how high I can climb the walls in a car, I like the drop at the top, and then the crunch at the bottom

The airport level on c2 has some cool points for doing this on, is fun!

A in game car editor, which allows you to edit the original cars and make your own. Like Gearhead Garage but with Carmageddon graphics, allowing you to choose tires, doors, body, hubcaps, spoilers, spikes/blades/saws, windows, decales, extra.

Also an in game paint program so you can paint your custom/new cars without exiting the game. The cars should automatically install into the game after saving our finished product, saving it within editing will work too, continuing the editing will update the car's folder.

Spikes/blades/saws/etc. should damage peds, instead of in being like they were hit by a car without them.

-It would be cool if there would be even more smashable objects like in Midtown Madness, so that the whole level looks like a real battleground after the race.

-Do you know Viper Racing? I liked the damage effects on the car, they should also be in Carma. Cause it's unrealistic if cars have huge crashes and the painture looks like just washed.

-Mud and dirt (or even blood!) that stays on the car would also be cool, like in many rally games. The cars have to look really used after some time.

-Climbing out of the car would be funny, and then I would replace the buy system of the old carmas with the ability to climb into opponents cars after you wrecked 'em and repair them for own use.

-The stunts should have more statistics like in gta3

and, like others said - weapons are displaced in carma, I remember how the network mode of tdr sucked as me and my friend only catched mines and fired em, as it is the most effective way to wreck someone, but original carma crashing should be the most important thing

How about a car construckter? It could be like in the game, Robot Arena i think its called, where you have deafault parts and then you but them together to make a Robot(in this case a car). Of course you would have to have the ability to make your own parts and then import them into the game.

And as you said, tyre blow-outs, and bigger levels, but no guns.

Then i think that to make it more race like, i think that it should be possible for the computer controlled opponents to win a race, and the player to lose.

The car upgrade thing sounds good, it would make it more C1 like, then again, the parts in the construkckter could cost money, so the money would be more important, and maybe you should only be able to repair between each race.

Maybe it also could cost money to join a race or something like that.

I agree with MuscleCarFreak, it could be cool, if mud and stuff stayed on the car, and that the city could be damaged more, and the car too, thats also a thing i hated in the Carmageddon games, especially TDR, that the cars, looked like they were just brought from factory, they were too shiny. It could be cool if you could see that the car had been used, and when the part was too damaged, youve had to buy a new part to replace it with.

Thats all...for now.

About flat tyres, when you drive through a building with glass or glass smashes when you hit a car, once you drive over the glass, you get a blow-out, it would be great at high speed, everyone gets killed. Paintwork can scratch off, and I like that idea that you go through the windscreen. How about REAL police in the levels, where they setup road blocks and spike-strips, and lke in Mafia, they can pull you over for speeding or running over a few oul' granny's. When you drive through a building, make the building go on fire and then finally blow up. There should be a petrol (gasoline) tank in your car and you can spring leaks and if you are unfortanate to leak petrol, and a fire starts, leave your car quickly. ou can also fill up at a petrol station, but it will cost money, and while your at it, blow up the petrol station. Unlike TDR 2000, have names on your AI, like in C1 and C2. Turn on certain parts of your car like lights and turn the engine on and off (like Interstate '76). And finally, have REAL speedometer's on your car, like when you are traveling at 70mph, say that on the speedo, instaed of something stupid like 200mph. Sure, we might aswell throw in a odometer in the car.

So far, the idea's have been great, let's get in a few more.

There was one thing that I always thought was missing from C2. I remember the plane flying around in the airport levels. When those crash, I wanna see some really massive explosion that does some serious damage...

By crash, I mean like, flip over. So it'll be rarer than just tapping it and y'know... ::boom:: for no real reason. I'd like to see that.

These are great idea's, but does anyone know anyone who works at SCi so we could submit these idea's to the company?

One last idea, if you drive through a puddle of petrol, and then it catches fire, maybe you could show something like your wheels catching fire. That would be fun.

have a lot of 3d big buildings (like real glass buildings).. kinda like the airport level in 2 but like buisness buildings, sure it would take long but imagine how great that would be,.. for destructive purposes, of course you can go inside and use elevators and such.

i like some of the ideas here too, like the blood sticking to the paint and mud.

i doubt that there would ever be a carmageddon 4 though, as far as i know and with people posting here they just arent interested in doing it even though i dont understand why they wouldnt make it, its the best damn game ever period!. i would love to see it happen some day though, although im sure id never get to play it!

I see alot of car modelers, but hardly and level modelers.

I'm alway contemplating making a universal lvl prefabs, of streets and buildings...

And since Simcity 4 is pretty good, and screen shots and overhead maps could be used as templates to build a city.

Oh why did Streets of Sim city suck so much. I mean they had the right idea of Converting SimCity 2000 cities into the game. (yes I'm kinda pushing the idea of lvl editor)

Maybe we should send an Email to SCi and request that they should make a new Carmageddon game.

In the Email we could write ideas down so the people on SCi had some pointers. We could tell them to consult with the Carmageddon community so we could help them make the game, and anything else, serious that is, that we could come up with, because if we dont take it seriuosly i dont think that the fine people at SCi will

Maybe collect signatures, and write them in the Email too, so they can see that the Carmageddon community supports them, and want a new Carmageddon game.

doubtfull that SCI would make another carma game... i dont think they got mutch profit from the earlier ones... but id never stop to hope...

someone mentioned guns in tht top... against cars it would be a bad idea... it would be boring... but against peds... it would be better... when ya cant drive over them... shoot the MF´s...

yeah, maybe along the carjacking line, once your car is finished, then you have the option of hopping out and running around either trying to jack another car, or even lift a drone-type car. maybe some personal weapons, like small mines or a uzi for the purpose of setting a trap or jacking a car would be in order. maybe the peds could attack like gta3?

Agh! This is all wrong!

"the fine people at SCI" <-- The people at SCI aren't fine! They're wankers!

and SCI didn't make any of the carmageddons, nor could they make a 4th!

The best hope is if the rights to the name/idea of carmageddon were to run out, then a decent games creation company could pick up the game with the 4th one, and take it to a separate publisher, leaving SCI out of the equation...

and IMO it is unlikely that that will ever happen..

Whatever happened to that company "Stainless" who made the first 2 Carmageddons? And who are the Aussie company made TDR 2000 (which was crap if you ask me)?

Ok! Then the folks at SCI arent fine, then forget them. But i think they could make a 4th, IF they consultet the people who are supposed to play it.

I dont think that Stainless exist anymore, I cant view thier site, but that could be a server problem, or redesigning.

Well if SCI wont take up the task, but remember we havent asked yet, we could ask Interplay, they were co-developers or something like that.

But if SCi as 'thrown out' Carmageddon, im sure they wouldent mind if another game was maked.

No blades and such on them, just like a bunch of everyday cars out for blood...

as for the getting out of your car, it would be sweet if you could get mowed down

I got a reply from SCi, this is it:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Richard

Stainless went into voluntary liquidation several years ago. SCi owns all rights to Carmageddon. we are currently evaluating designs and developers for a new Carmageddon game.

Regards

Rob Murphy

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's the end of Stainless.

and voluntary liquidation my ass

and it's most likely the carma game would have incredible potential, but SCI would fuck it up

i want more life like realistic peds!! for some reason the stupid peds powerup in C2 only made them better cause you got to back stab em!! In real life you can take your car on the sidewalk and mow down someone that doesnt know its coming! In c2 they always turn and scream and know youre coming every single time which isnt that realistic.

also no opponents making stupid comments when you hit them in TDR.. (same with peds in the US version) that was retarded, same as c1 when 'max' said things. - so no unessesary sounds.

if there was a new carmageddon they should just take all the inspiration from c2 and make a whole new improved up to date version of it and of course add some new ideas that would fit the game.

But they wont screw it...IF they listen to the people who are supposed to play it!
