Do Kickstarters Get The Game Early?

I heard that Kickstarters get the alpha/beta/whatever it is early. Is this true? I would use the Kickstarter but I prefer having my games on Steam and I already have $20 on my Steam wallet anyway and I don't want to spend another $20 when I already have it just to get the game earlier.

Looks like someone just overlaid the Max Damage image over the bleak city concept and used the media pack logo over the top, I'm not sure, there could be more effort in that banner if it is by stainless, otherwise its lies :P

Ah, wouldn't be surprised if FatCat's real name is Rick Astley.

My hopes were greater than my trolldetection-skills. Too bad.

No, it's not real!

All backers will get access to the Steam Early Access release.

When I did the PayPal Pledge (in October 2013) it was said that all Kickstart and PayPal backers would get access to 1 non-steam and 1 steam version 2weeks before the early access release, so that would be next Thursday (14 March) but there has been no updates on the backers site so we will have to wait and see.

This was actually answered either on the news page with the video or on the discussion thread of said news. And yes, Thursday the 13th of March is the KS release and Paypal $35 pledges. Paypal $20 pledges (myself included) get the game on the 27th.

Yes, but nothing was changed. $35 and up was always the exclusive beta period for paypal backers.

If we're still getting the dlcs I suppose thats ok, but whats the point of giving ppl ($20 pledgers) like me the non drm version if we're getting it the same day as the early access Steam version? Why not just the Steam version? I'm not going to mod it anyway :-)

You wont be getting the DRM-free version for quite a while as maintaining potentially frequent updates to the early access will be a hell of a task on the DRM-free version. Early Access will more than likely be exclusive to Steam with the DRM-free version coming when its at least close to completion.

Wasteland 2 did it and is doing it this way. Steam gives very good tools for developers to automatically update versions and they don't have to write their own code and run servers for it...
