THE MASTER OF DISASTER
Legendary remake by TDA finaly arrives in Carmageddon 1!

I actually started this port exactly one year ago...
The MoD is available for Unwheel, TDR2000, C2 and now C1. Maybe even for other games.
The suspensions have been bothering me but I finaly settled with breaking the axles... :sdead:
Don't have much to say besides that ; Harm's script is still so great to work with. :swink:

Last year I had quickly ported Pip's great Granada Ghia to C1. Now I thought it'd be great to finish it. A pretty simple port as usual. I just didn't take the time to rename all the material identifiers to the 8.3 format as it wasn't very motivating and C1 doesn't care anyway :sgn:

I hijack this thread to post the releases of my C1 and C2 cars. I'm slowly getting fed up with addon cars and so I'd like to go through my todo list and be done with them to go on with level design.

Here's what I'm planning to release in this thread:
  • near future: Blue Falcon (C1), Venom (C1), Mario Kart (C1), Action Cruiser (C1), Teh Stelltio (C1), Jet Car (C1)
  • later: Crazy Taxi car (C2), Coupe de Grace (C1), Purpl Orange Pildedriver (C1), backward Fiat 126 (C1), BRoom vehicles (7xC1)
All these are already ingame but Coupe de Grace.
  • even later: Tanka+trailer+hires skin (C1), Demolition machine + Lorry (C2 lost bits), Errol's Goldfingered! (C1), Turbo Run cars (6xC1), Chrome God v3 (C1)
  • someday: Beroc's Iron Horse (C1+C2), Beroc's Charger series (5xC2), Radigator remake for C1, James Bond micro car (C2)
That's a total of 37 vehiCLES OH MY GOD :syikes:
Being able to wrap up the 2 first points up there would be amazing. Third point is definitely achievable this year too. What annoys me the most are the menu images. Especially the C1 grid icons urgh!!

Ah and I still have to properly release the cars I worked on for Razor's beta mod. In the meantime you can find them there: cerby, digga, monsterbug, icevan.

When making the menu pics, I understood this car was from the tv show Ben 10. So I guess this is one for the little ones? Car looks kinda good though. Had to make it orange as C1 hates green.

Next one is FlatOut2's Venom.

The derp version of the Stiletto, based on a drawing by Agent Orange. I thought I had released the C2 version long ago, but actually nope. So here's a version for C1 at least. A joke addon really. Somehow the C2 version works better, I'll put it in the R6 folder.

Took me a little more time as I wanted this one to be good. I'm really glad with the thruster effect.
So this is a port of C2 Jetcar but I restored it to CWR's original concept and design with Hammerhead Sr. as driver (also kept the cyclop animation from Splat Pack), working aeliron and thus the flame:

So this concludes the first step as established in my second post up there. Next will be the 7 BRoom cars I think. I won't put as much effort in them as they are more for the show.

Here are the seven vehicles from the "BRoom!" gamelette made by Stainless before Carmageddon 1.
They are very old ('95) and were made by nobby. I can't say they are very interesting C1 cars, but some were definitely prototypes (MINI, PORK, LAMB). I guess ROLL inspired the Lead Pumper and VIPER might have served as a base for Cleaver?
I guess the next one is the Crazy Taxi car.

PURPL ORANGE PILEDRIVER

Really glad to have finally updated Cerby correctly (8 years later!). The orange idea comes from C:MD's KVN Toucan concept art. It might be one of my favourite addon cars :)
Tested Harm's vertex picking script and it works great. Can't wait to be able to add rudimentary crush datas!

It's ofcourse at RR2000, and don't forget to refresh the page if it doesn't appear.

Next one should be Coupe de Grace, though it'll come a bit later as I have less free time.

At first I had cut doors out of the crazy taxi model, then thought 'let's just stick to what's in the original game'. Nice interior!
Transparent materials in interior view are set via the CAMERA_TURN_OFF_MATERIALS keyword at the end of the text file, I think I explain how it works in the comments of the Eagle MK4 text file.

Just like the Cerbera, I spent a lot of time drawing pixels and swapping colors on the textures. I really like it! Unlike the Jetcar, I kept most of the C2 look but for the front grill and suspensions which I restored from CWR's original design. I think I'll add the suspensions to the VanillaC2 version too.

Applied the dither flag on the roof texture to good effect but had a hard time getting it to work until I figured the texture had to be at least 64x64!

Anyway, you can get it at RR2000 (refresh if it doesn't appear, also I'm changing server in the upcoming days so there might be a downtime or older versions of the page might appear).

Next will be QTZ' backward Fiat and then the second round will be done :sbsmile:

A quick little release :)
In order to gain some motivation, I started removing projects: backward Fiat 126 (sorry QTZ), Demolition machine + Lorry (C2 lost bits), Radigator remake for C1, James Bond micro car (C2).

I'll probably try to fit the demolition machine and the lorry back into the mesh of one of the junkyard races. If so I'll release it as a patch and include in the C2 pack thing.

Hesitating about removing much more and move on with newer projects :/

Hey, finally another carma release, nice work Tosh. Does it come with extra features? Water in the bowl is a flipped mesh? Glass of the bowl looks convincing too, as if it has thickness. How did you do that?

Offtopic: It feels like I haven't spoken to you guys in ages! I'll be sure to check into ICR a bit more

Turned out to be a nice addon really. Decided to keep the interior and try and make it look like the vehicle has tinted windows. Kept all grooves from C2 too.

Available at RR2000!

Decided to remove Beroc's Chargers from my todo list. Realised it was made for Crashday back then and thus required way more work to be a nice addon for Carma. So mleh.

Moved to the next item in the list:

One year ago I asked Maxine to sktech a quick idea around a "medieval carma car".
So yes, a cow-powered-chariot, with the Ranger from Quake as the charioteer :swheel:

I'll try to work on it a bit everyday and finish it for Christmas!
