Working on a level that uses Maxine's low poly trains

Still a lot to do, but at least the downtown area is coming along nicely.

Looking cool. Nice to see Max's trains getting used. Trains are awsome.

Btw, are you adding a train yard? A train scrap yard would also be awsome.

Wow, that's just awesome! Are the tracks going to cause the cars to stop dead in their tracks? It would be cool if one of the crossings had a small bump on it so the cars can jump a little (but nothing as extreme as the crossing in Beaver Woods which is too high IMO).

Yes, there's people running around - and jumping off - roofs

Alex: yep, a trainyard too. It's on the other side of town. I need to work on that next.

I like the scrap idea, I will try to work something in.

Tosh: I don't know about the BSP, just that SketchUp exports a textured .3ds file

small update

Work has not stopped on this map.

I just have been without a computer for the last 4 weeks or so.

The new computer I got on last Friday, did not startup and had to send it back - after waiting 2 weeks for the shipment.

I ordered another one from a different manufacturer - but won't get it until 3/20

Ok, finally got my new computer this weekend (an Alienware Area 51 Aurora 7500 that kicks butt)

and have got it partially setup with my apps.

As a test, I did export a test map out of Google and got it into the game.

So I should be back in the saddle now and can get back to finishing this map up.

(I did take a few days off to play a few games from this millennium like Doom3 and the demo of F.E.A.R.)

I didn't need a monitor so they knocked off a like $200. But with taxes and all It came in just under $1800.

More than what I wanted to spend, but I was way overdue for an upgrade and hopefully will last me for a few years.

(as a justification for getting it, Photoshop now opens up in a matter of seconds - of course I don't have many fonts installed, but meh)

1800? wow krap, im just not into computers enough to spend that much, even if it would be nice to use something that doesnt freeze every 30 minutes which results in it being punched and beaten with a stick .

heh, and that is the low end of their product line, some go for $5000+.

Hey, considering how much time I spend on the computer

and that I haven't bought anything for 4-5 years....

($1800/5yrs)/365days = $0.98 a day

hmm, let me write that down here (grabs pencil and paper) so when my wife

asks me just what that $1800 on this months credit card bill is.

I've seen Alienware systems go up to $20.000, if you start racking up stuff like monitors, projectors, storage and so on..

Last summer, I built (well, severely modified my old computer using nearly all new parts) my computer. Only cost me a fraction of the cost of an Alienware (about €700 or so), with fairly good spec (I can run alot of new games on full or near full settings).

1982 Ford Escort Mk3 1.3 L (restoration project)
1990 Nissan Micra K10 L (my first car, currently in long term storage)
1995 Ford Escort Mk6 1.3 CL (current everyday car)

Ok, it took me a while to get it working, FYI: noncars 69boxcars were missing and the pine tree non car needed a 01 at the end of the name or some shit like that, plus do to my own serious modifications to the peds and other such business I had to make some changes, but I finally got it working.. and this maps ROCKS!! Awesome inspiring work, has a nice outdoorsey feel, plus a city section to boot? The whole railyard theme reminds me of my own town as we have one of those built right into our "City" I'll have to have a good go at it tonight after work as I have some errands and some cycling to do right now!

Thanks for all the hard work in bringing us bastards a new map, savour the moment jerks!!
