Analog RPM dial...!

Post by C2 Scientist »

Image

Just made this one, an analog RPM dial... downloadable now if you're interested. (it's a replacement for the original coloured bars)

A few things first though: since the image sequence only uses 12 frames, the needle animation unfortunately can't be real smooth. Also, the backgrounds of the speed and gear digits may cause transparency on a small area of the RPM dial textures, even though the dial textures themselves don't have any such 'holes'... but those aren't that major issues really, just see for yourself if you like it. :smile:

Link in my sig...

Oh, if anyone knows how to lower the speed and gear digits a bit, let me know. IMO they would fit better several pixels down...

EDIT: you can also check the other new downloads: improved textures on the Corvette and Golf, and new paintwork textures for most of my cars...

Hey, I could use some help now... I've changed the addon cars section a bit again, by reducing the size of the tables quite considerably. But they all still pile up vertically... I'd prefer if they first filled the whole available horizontal area, I just don't know how to do that. I think three tables could now easily fit on a single row @ 1024x768, and four @ 1280x1024... it would be more convenient to use.

Does anyone happen to know how to fix this...?

Good stuff.

I could only find one way to place tables horizontally. That is to place your tables inside of another table. Build a table that is 3 cells wide and 4 cells tall. Set the border to "0" so it won't be visible. Set all of the cell widths to "33%". This will make them spaced more evenly.

It will look like this:

<table border="0" width="100%">

<tr>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="34%"></td>

</tr>

<tr>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="34%"></td>

</tr>

<tr>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="34%"></td>

</tr>

<tr>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="33%"></td>

<td width="34%"></td>

</tr>

</table>

I guess you know where to cut/paste your tables. :smile:

I tried a chunk of your html to see if it would work, I'll go ahead and post it if you want to save yourself some work. You might want to double check it.

Also, you might want to center each of your tables within their respective cells.

I hope I don't melt the boards with this big assed post.

Ah, that's much better - thanks mate! :smile:

Unfortunately 4 cells didn't completely fit on one row @ 1024x768, and now there's some extra space with 3, but hey... that'll do for now. I'd still prefer if the number of table cells on one row was somehow adjusted by the size of the browser window... after all, you could probably have five cars on a single row @ 1600x1200.

Anyway, this at least is a great temporary solution. :smile:

Hmm, have you tried any editors c2s? wysiwyg editors for html are pretty good all round. some cheap or free ones would do the trick. I mean, you can have the option of editing the code,then swithing to editor, or whatever. It's alot easier if your not big into design.
