QTZ's C1 corner is right here!
We don't talk enough about it at all, but he keeps on updating his UCP (Unofficial Carmageddon Patch). The thing is really great as it fixes a lot of issues that Stainless overlooked or that are caused by the Meld Patch. But also offers several languages english/german/spanish/portuguese/french/italian/polish (thanks to Espyo and Mastro&Co). Voices are included too. Choose between blood/zombie/robots too. And other additional options. I put the changelog at the end of this post.
In parallel to this, there's the Max Pack All Peds Patch, which allows you to directly run the version you want. It's only for the Max Pack.
Still patches but for the tools now, the Purple Palette Patch for All Carmageddon Needs does what its name implies. It will patch most tools to force the transparency on the purple color. Supported tools: Carmageditor, Pix Editor, PedEdit, Plaything 1/2, Texconv, CarmagEdit, PixTractor and the new one, TRixx. And it also exists for Mac CarmagEdit :) Really handy. Quick example:
I've already talked about it previously, the Carma FoNT editor lets you edit the FNT files, or at least peek at them if you're just curious. It was one of the latest formats over which we had no control, so it's great. Good for total conversion projects.
Not FNT related but still font (the larger ones are stored in .PIX), QTZ brings you digits from DOOM:
The Downgrade patch, this is for purists only ofcourse. It takes any Max Pack or Carma UK CD and installs the first version of C1 out of it. You know, the one with ENABLE as its main cheat.
If you still can't figure out how to fix the Sled/Bugutti issue, he also uploaded his own fix (Splat Pack fix):
If Carmageddon doesn't exist in your language and you'd like to translate the onscreen text, there's an english template available. You obviously need to couple this to one of the other foreign language patches (like french or italian) in order to get the blank menus and buttons. If you happen to make a new translation, don't hesitate to send it our way and QTZ will include it in the UCP.
And finally, his favorite C1 skin is apparently Coffeycup's Meatwagon for Stiffshifter. However he found the original file to be corrupt and fixed it. Coffeycup you might want to update the archive at MacCarpoc as well :)
That is all, friends!
UCP changelog:
Code: Select all
Unofficial Carmageddon Patch by QTZ.
Work in progress version 11a updated 17.08.2013
This patch should work correctly with any fresh full installed Carmageddon version.
(I'm not shure about German version)
*** Install this patch to *full* *fresh* installation of Carmageddon
*** after installing this patch you may install add-ons or customizations,
*** but remember installing this patch on customized Carmageddon may fail
*** or at least you will lost some of your custom files and other errors may occur.
What's new / fixed (compare to original C1):
- CarIcons edited / expanded (You can see those during net play)
- APC icon added (for caricons and for grid)
- Cars without icon changed to "CHEAT" as is in Splat Pack
- Additional 86 "ADD-ON" icons for add-on cars - this fix random data icons for add-on cars
Note: 126 total, but network play crash with more than 85 cars
- Carmageddon White Hawk icon repainted
- grid icons fixed to correct numbers
- Car list fixes (all language versions are compatible and match CarIcons)
Note: If you want to add custom cars - add them just before "END" of OPPONENT.TXT (reinstall will clear that!)
- Created mug animations for Annie and Frank (Max)
Note: Both cars are not available as opponents by default, so animations are not visible (just for future use)
- All cars stealworthy cheat (optional) [no all cars available in net play, for that you can use cheat "joyrider"]
- Set bonnet position for every cheat car, also added missing Crush Data (APC is almost not destructible anyway)
- Fixed parts collisions in OTIS (not needed for pure C1 - conflicted with NEWEAGLE from SP)
- Fonts fixes (still need work)
- Pedestrian/Zombie/Robot version can be selected for main - unlimited - mode (with pedestrian related powerups!)
Note: Also try my "Max Pack All Pedestrians Carmageddon Patch" (for Max Pack exec, so also for GOG with GOG patch)
- Boring (limited) mode is fixed to robots
- More sound available (based on Carmageddon Max Pack version)
- Pedestrian use more sounds (based on Max Pack too)
- Flag man switched to non lilliputian version (you may have already correct version)
- Fixed other peds - like two tails moo (cow)
- Original missing "Figure of Hate" map added as "Figure of Hate Arena" (Derby of Destruction) for net play (this track is present in early version of Carmageddon, but in further removed)
- Added two tracks not present on net track selection menu (names are taken from Meld Patch)
- Transparent effect for Max Pack Carmageddon (or any Carmageddon with Max Pack exe or Splat Pack exe or GOG version with GOG patch installed)
- Faust car selection picture updated
- Added 6 hidden animations from Splat Pack (including 3 not used in Splat Pack)
- Added optional animated car selection menu
- Added alternative versions of sounds
- Added alternative fat ped (old version from SP demo)
- Added alternative rank font (old fashion gold)
- Added translations (work in progress - some more complete than original, some partial)
- Random powerups set to be the same for all translations
- Fixed texture for upper part of running crane (MNCRCBTP.PIX inside pix packs) - exchanged with correct version
- More fixes...
Note: For net play use same version of this patch for all players (you can set different settings).
Note: For very old exec translated version may crash the game, so if translation faild for you try English (or translated "on English") or update your exec (this patch doesn't update exec).
Note: In hires mode caricons in menu are displayed incorrectly - this is normal.
This happened because of bug in Carmageddon - hi-res icons are loaded instead of lo-res for menu, but in game is OK.
