sorry if this question wins noob award but i'm getting confused with carma1 and high resolutions availability, since i'm used to be happy enough with -hires i never bothered about alternatives until now.
i know that nGlide and other wrappers can run 3Dfx mode (as i do by ages in carma2) but for my taste, carma1 with bilinear textures looks like shit... it just screams for a delightful point filtering, sorry. :p
then i know that -hires switches to 640x480 which is much nicer than default.
i also tried to mess with dosbox (steam relase) but then i realized it just stretches existing resolution (either 320x200 or -hires 640x480 ) to higher resolutions which is great for LCDs
my gaming monitor is CRT (Sony FW-900) so all of those dosbox scaling features are nonsense to me since native 480p looks just as sharp as if scaled to 1536p or whatever.
so the question is, how can i get in-game resolution to a REAL higher resolution than 640x480 (say, 1280x960; 1920x1440 or even 2048x1536) while avoiding texture filtering as wrappers does?

There are 'experimental' higher res executables for CARMA95: 1280*720 and 1920*1080.
Somewhere in there: https://rr2000.cwaboard.co.uk/pc-files#c1 Do read the readme!
The 1280*720 one comes with a HUD for the Eagle positionned by C2S.
I guess it should be possible for glide wrappers to work without filtering, but do they?

You'd better also make use of the cnc-ddraw mod, you can play at just about any resolutions. Man, why did the Steam people decide to NOT include the CARM95 executable if GOG.com offered it as an optional, experimental patch?
...It's just as much a joke with Bethesda's Steam version of Fallout 2, no children (it's definitely European) while the GOG version includes them. Jonny's quest in Modoc is unwinnable and even Curtis' quest in Vault City becomes locked away since there are no visible frames for the kids.

wooohoo thanks a lot tosh, i've searched previous topics about it and also made my own 1080p hud layout:

i really didn't expected hacked .exes has even proper aspect ratio! o:
i wished to make a 1920x1200 variant (this monitor is 16:10), i tried to compare 720 and 1080 exes in hex, seen the differences but had no idea wtf i was looking at D:
@Breakin'Benny
I forgot to mention it but i also tried cnc-ddraw on the non-steam version (meldpack) but i ended up with the same results as dosbox (640x480 stretched to custom resolutuons) or also a silly tiny 640x480 frame letterboxed into 2048x1536 lol
EDIT:
btw i can't login to CWA again, FFFFFUUUU

About CWA, I sent you a PM (here on Carma.com forums).
If you're willing to share your 1920x1080 hud, I'll add it to the file :)
hifi's ddraw.dll is used to run the game properly on recent systems, it can stretch the resolution but not increase it natively. Nothing can so far but these patches.

about hifi's ddraw, yeah my mistake, it is already into meldpack of course duh, it was yet another previous clean carma1 folder where i had to add it and realize it scaled only. (still useful for full screen menus anyway!)
