Re: Need help configuring a car with Tank Tracks

Did you set the groovy funk refs up correctly? There should be nothing but the GFRs for the two tracks materials in the spinning section. Post your whole text file as an attachment.

Are those wheel dummies I see in your 3dsMax screenshot? If yes, these aren't needed.

Re: Game crashes instantly upon launching

Additionaly, at some point, a virtual machine might very well be the safer bet. Programs like VMWare, QEMU etc. can now do the job very well with hardware graphics acceleration. I don't remember if XP lets you boot directly into a game, but 98 certainly do which can be convenient if you just want a ...

Re: Quick C1/C2 finds & facts

Ah thanks. Yes, at 12k tris the geometry is very dense... You wouldn't be able to notice the wobbling. The simplest part is the underside and if the car is on its roof it is possible to observe a bit of wobbling at certain angles in the very center of the underside!

Re: Game crashes instantly upon launching

Turned off Shadowplay, made no difference unfortunately. Just to be sure: the idea was to close as many programs and services as possible, including stuff like Steam (TDR can run without it), Discord, your antivirus, OneDrive, browser, XBox Game Bar and services, etc. Could you elaborate more on wh...

Re: Quick C1/C2 finds & facts

This is only applicable to C1 maps. When I ran my test, it was on a car..! What's the polycount on that car in your video? Maybe the topology is so well distributed the wobble effect isn't noticeable? Is that mod available or is it WIP? Because if really these odd sizes don't break the perspective ...

Re: Quick C1/C2 finds & facts

From Mastro:

C1 and C2 software mode can only correct perspective on materials using textures with the following sizes:
64x64, 128x128, 256x256, and 1024x1024.

This also applies to dithering (still while in software rendering mode).

Re: Game crashes instantly upon launching

I can't think of any solution. IIRC the disable mipmapping/pixelfog thing is for when the game crashes upon starting a race. (Ideally compatibility settings should be set to XP SP2) What is the content of dbg.txt ? It is located in the root folder. Have you tried disabling sound entirely. Closing as...

Re: Helo's Brand New "Oldschool" C2 Addons

Great stuff, steering a bit away from the C2 spec with the mapping and detailing. Gave the android version of the countslash texture a try, barely changes a thing thanks to the RGB565 color degradation. Personaly think it's a bit of a waste to have 5 256x256 duplicates because of the light smash and...

reposting my previous post because the few recent posts were lost thanks to me... I was thinking something along those lines a few days ago about the drivers/vehicles pages. Woah I had never heard about this before! Does it mean the game will parse a maximum of 25 cars for each strength rating?! So if you've got 125 cars installed, you must have each strength level must be set to 25 different cars or you're certain some addons won't appear ingame. If that mechanic is co...

The fact it keeps on happening regardless of its index in OPPONENT.TXT is even more surprising.

Just a few spots here and there on the body shell, noticed on some hoods, where I thought I'd change the smoothing groups (which means splitting vertices/edges for TDR). Will post a few examples if I get the time.

Great job. Thought to myself that the SHELL model could have benefited from tweaked smoothing groups here and there but if you're going for a real C2 base car setup maybe it's ok like that (unsure stainless 3d artists knew that BRender supports smoothing groups -or even what they were). You can remo...

there was in fact a specific reason the horses were cut. Some big wig at SCi said that was "going to far" when she saw the horse being set ablaze by a pedestrian flamethrower. The other animals are fine to perish in a blaze though. That's some intense anecdote there. Could that big wig ac...
