I recently had to wipe out my old netbook and reload all Carma stuff.
so I d/led the Mad Max map from Mac Carpocalypse and unzipped it straight into the main C2 directory and added the extra text bits referenced in the readme...
Every time I select the map, the game crashes out. In software mode, the message is thusly, "Can't ped group index out of range for material "3Ped_Bad"
This map is the *only* reason I still play C2.
i assume the problem is in the peds text.
can anybody point me in the right direction?

Re: Maxed Out map problem
Hello D_B,
You probably forgot to increase the following line (in PEDS\SETTINGS.TXT) by 2:
However, while testing my game still wouldn't run with the track and moaned about the noncar '79OILDRUM_01.TXT' having too many points (34!) in its bounding box. I don't understand why it cares now while I don't remember me nor anyone else encountering the issue before.
Anyway, if it also crashes for you after editing the total ped groups line, just open 79OILDRUM_01.TXT and change this chunk:
and replace it with this :
And then it should work for good
You probably forgot to increase the following line (in PEDS\SETTINGS.TXT) by 2:
Code: Select all
70 // Number of groups
Anyway, if it also crashes for you after editing the total ped groups line, just open 79OILDRUM_01.TXT and change this chunk:
Code: Select all
polyhedron
34 // number of points

Re: Maxed Out map problem
One more question...
I tried searching here for a solution but couldn't find one.
The opaque textures (car textures/terrain textures) 'white out' for periods of time or flicker.
is there anything I can do about this?

Re: Maxed Out map problem
"White out"? Are these issues similar to the ones reported in the original thread there: https://www.cwaboard.co.uk/viewtopic.php ... &start=315 ?
If so do you still use the same laptop? Maybe it's hardware related, have you tried using different glidewrappers (nGlide, dgVoodoo2 for example)?
When I played, I don't think I ever noticed such an issue with the textures.

Re: Maxed Out map problem
Nah, this is a case of textures disappearing altogether.
as the player car procedes through the environment, various textures on the car and even on the terrain will completely disappear or flicker (which can be really confusing when rolling along at speed and everything in sight turns pure white).
I installed Zeck's glide wrapper last night and it took care of a lot of the texture issues (Pixelation, etc.) but I haven't had time to run the track to check for whiteout issues.
I'm still using the same netbook (Acer Aspire One AOA150) I was using before to run both C1 and C2 as it is the only PC I have.
I'll run it for awhile tonight after work and see if the issue's resolved.

good to know somebody;s still around here.
