Countslash 2009

Post by Razor »

Hello there, Apologies for the extra topic but I've gotten hold on Puma's Countash again and have fiddled about with it and this is the result:

http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... 2b40db.png

http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... 557aad.png

http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... fc6700.png

I'll have to try and get in contact with Puma before I release this thing.

I think it fits in quite nicely with the C1 converted maps.

I don't know what Puma's car looked like before, so not really sure what you did.

But to me the blades look really blurry - like 64x64. The ones in the front are the focal point.

If this is the"2009" version, shouldn't we see detail like grinding marks?

Yeah, 'tis a lowres 64x64 texture at the moment, I might keep these in a lowres_tiffrgb folder, then reskin the entire car into hires, I'll have to get working on this when I get home from college.

well i know whats the Puma's car is it - and i must to say that in some case your edit much better - new wheels, new blades, good mesh - but textures so small at that moment - maybe you could do something like Tosh's Steambo

Image

well when you release it i wanna to retexture it with 256 textures..

That Countach was so incorrect lol (i mean, in real it's a 2 seater with the engine in the rear?!?)..i always wanted to make one myself.

That Steambo should be remodelled to look like the Kutter one, so therefor is out of the question IMO anyway..

Econo made CountaCh. he made first model of 1974 - but Tosh made 1984 Countach. i think in carma 1 must be '84 Countach exactly.

BTW for you information, Tosh didn't make the Steambo, he converted it from a russian Carmageddon contest.

As i said and i'll say it again..it needs remodelling of the rear and whatnot, doesn't got an interior, detachable parts etc!

Even though it's indeed the correct Countach (25th anniversary edition~~).

yeah i know about his converting - but he do a work with it - he improved it for carma and made it playable isn't it? so i can call it "making"

25th anniversary has so much differences between usual countach like a front bumper, rear air kingstons and side spoiler..

Yeah I saw a shiny blue LP500S ;round the corner from my house the other week.

First thought that popped into my head was "fancy parking that 'round here, it'll have no wheels, windows, spoiler, engine or seats left when he comes back to it.", it looked nice though.

EDIT: Puma's Countach is originally called "COUNTASH5000", so I'm guessing it's modelled off of a 5000QV

EDIT2: I, for some reason, keep spelling Countach with an s.. "Countash"..

EDIT3: Yes I did only just notice the typo's... :suicide:

EDIT4: (YES ANOTHER!) I'm making some changes to the car, a few modelling changes are circled in this screenshot: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... ef99b7.png

RED CIRCLE: The lights will be changed to the LP500S style lights, as the original Countslash seemed to have these. (By LP500S I mean, closed, like the pictures and the original Countslash; as opposed to open.)

YELLOW CIRCLE: The wing mirrors will be removed as they're unnecessary and are just a solid green colour and I think they look tacky.

BLUE CIRCLE: I might work a bit more on the interior because at the moment it is full of holes.

I'll re-texture the interior too.

The nth EDIT: here it is at the moment, i decided to keep the lights up as it really looks crap with them closed: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... ff5072.png

well i think mirrors are necessary - becouse without it imo countach looks too naked

also i think that they look good enough

The original Countslash didn't have them though, they might make another appearance if need be.

http://www.igcd.net/vehicle.php?id=794& ... width=1280

I tell you one thing i WILL be doing..

Removing the 2 rear seats (yes this was originally a FOUR SEATER COUNTACH!!!) and moving the engine into the back of the car.

I suggest you re-texture those wheels too. I don't really like the looks of them. Perhaps a body re skin as well? though you were already talking about a high-res skin. It could use a little more highlights/shinyness within the texture. I like the good lookin model though.

Yeah I was looking at the wheels in disgust last night, they're taken directly from the C1 Countslash so they look quite nasty and blurred, they will need to be reskinned.

Perhaps a body re skin as well? though you were already talking about a high-res skin. It could use a little more highlights/shinyness within the texture. I like the good lookin model though.
I'm working on that, the current textures of the vehicle are all 64x64 and llook stretched on the model.

I have alrady started on this and so far have reskinned: The steering wheel (the original was nasty and had no alpha channel), the driver model (it's now Kutter of course), the dashboard dials, the front fog lights.

A lot of the model needs work aswell, especially the doors, when they open the car lifts off of the ground, i'll have to make them open upwards instead of out and the interior (as I said) is full of holes. (no disrespect to Puma who did a great job on this model)

Original Interior: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... 8ac21e.png

EDIT: New wheels, I'm not too sure about them at the moment, they seem a bit bright, I'll go fiddle with them a bit later: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... 70b994.png

EDIT2: Does anyone else besides me think this is strange? Image

EDITPi: I'll be adding this to the front of the Countslash:

Image

And here it is: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/ ... 4d2433.png

Anyway enough with the infinate amount of edits, I'm gonna get working on the skin.

Countslash 2009!

Image

From the ReadMe VV

Counslash 2009 Remake!

--

http://www.stomping-on-kittens.co.nr/

--

Model by Y2KPuma

Re-skin, model fixes and modded by Razor

'Bad Year' logo on wheels courtesy of TTR

---

KUTTER HAS GOT HIS OLD WHEELS BACK AND THEY'RE BADDER THAN EVER!

--Installing--

Install it as you would any other C2 car.

Either with Carstockalypse or by editing your OPPONENTS.TXT

--Added Parts, Features and Changes--

-Blades for slicing and dicing

-Lots of Detachables

-Menu PIX

-KUTTER!

-Moved engine to the back (as it should be)

-Removed rear seats

-Added a boot/trunk where the engine used to be

-Lined up the inner side of the doors with the outer side (they were way out)

-Lined up the floor and underside of the car correctly with the model (there were big gaps before)

-Filled in some holes and undefined triangles in the interior

-Reskinned the vehicle

-Added two extra bounding boxes (for the front blades)

-Altered where the doors hinge (they now hinge up as opposed to out)

-Replaced the original driver model (which was the low poly c2 model) with Coffey Cup's Earl driver model

--Problems & Bugs--

Okay, there is one really annoying problem that I could not combat!

The rear right wing has a problem, where it's darker than every other part of the model, it never used to be like this, it happened suddenly and I've tried almost everything to fix it and I can't.

It's not too noticable but it's there, staring me in the face whenever I use it. :P

--Thanks--

I'd like to thank every one at the CWABoard for keeping this amazing game alive.

Stainless for making the game.

TTR for helping me out, for letting me use one of his 'Bad Year' logo's and for giving me feedback on MSN.

Thanks for all of the feeback on the CWABoard.

I guess there's things I like and things that I don't on this one. Not really sure what you started with

(I did look around but no luck) or what your goal was. If you were just cleaning up Puma's work and

tweaking it,then fine. If it was supposed to be a "2009" updated version I feel it falls a little short.

For the small amount of time it would've taken, I would've put better wheels. The 10-sided ones look

clunky to me. And what is going on with the weird tire treads? Bizzaro.

The green on the door is graduated from light to dark. The number 7's white outline is one flat color.

It should get darker too. The number looks like its floating in front of the door instead of being part of it.

I do like having a Countslash with an interior and driver. I was using Jesters straight C1 conversion.

btw why don't you want to use model in this video for example for countslash remake?

http://www.youtube.com/v/MTdA6HWZgSE&hl=en&fs=1

you may ask for permission and add blades - this model is perfect for countslash because it's simply well-maded

It's mentioned several times during the course of this thread that the original model was made by Puma

this model is perfect for countslash because it's simply well-maded
No disrespect to Puma because he did a great job but I'd have to dissagree with you slightly, it is a well made model, yes but there were a few undefined triangles in the interior, the underside of the car didn't line up with the rest of the model, there was a huge gap between the underside of the model and the floor of the interior, there are holes underneath the front windshield and both sides of the car dont match up but this is because the car was made as a full model and not itterated, nothing major, just little annoyances.
